Actors that could have died during production

Movies often involve pieces of action that lead to injuries. From choreographed fight scenes to huge stunts, many actors put themselves into harm’s way for the sake of their craft. We have some of the craziest injuries that happened to actors while making movies.

Jamie Alexander – Thor: The Dark World

Jaimie Alexander was so badly during the filming of Thor: The Dark World that she couldn’t even get up. She fell from a high point leaving her with an injured spine and a herniated disk. Alexander spent a week in a hospital then had to undergo rehabilitation. She went on to finish filming her fight scenes.

Tom Cruise – Mission: Impossible – Fallout

Tom Cruise is all about doing his own stunts. He’s suffered many injuries because he doesn’t back down from even the toughest action. While filming Mission: Impossible – Fallout he even broke his ankle. The wild stunt was captured while filming. The film showed Tom attempting to jump from one building to another. His leg crashed into one of the buildings as he barely missed his landing. He finished the shot without stopping.

Halle Berry – Gothika

Halle Berry’s injury on Gothika led to an eight-week shutdown of the movie. Her co-star Robert Downey Jr. twisted her arm too far behind her back during a scene and broke it. The careless accident sent everyone home while Berry could recover.

George Clooney – Syriana

George Clooney seriously hurt himself while filming a torture scene for Syriana. When a stunt went wrong, Clooney cracked open his head. Beyond an open head wound, Clooney had a two-and-a-half-inch tear along his back and another small one in his neck. He was leaking spinal fluid, too. Clooney had to take spinal injections for two weeks.

Harrison Ford – Star Wars Episode VII

Harrison Ford badly broke his leg filming Star War: The Force Awakens. A door closed against his leg leading to surgery and months of rehabilitation. The sliding doors could’ve done much worse to him, so the production company was fined $2 for putting the actor in harm’s way.

Jeremy Renner – Tag

Jeremy Renner is one of the most famous stars in action movies, yet he hurt himself in a comedy. He fell twenty feet breaking both of his arms during filming. He left the hospital with two casts on his arms. Renner came back to work the next week to finish filming. He removed the casts to perform the scenes.

Charlize Theron – Aeon Flux

Charlize Theron was almost paralyzed while making Aeon Flux. While performing her own stunts, one on a trampoline went the wrong way. She injured her neck in the shot. Production of the film was shut down for over a month while Theron’s neck healed.

Brad Pitt – Seven

Brad Pitt was supposed to chase a suspected killer in the rain through an alley. He slipped while running and his arm went straight through a windshield. Pitt suffered a torn tendon. The director decided to write the injury into Seven.

Uma Thurman – Kill Bill

Uma Thurman was also almost paralyzed during the filming of Kill Bill. She suffered severe injuries when she was driving a car at a high speed along a dirt track, and it didn’t go as planned. The stunt had been performed by director Quentin Tarantino to perfection. When it was her time, someone made her drive it the opposite way. She ended up suffering injuries to her neck and legs.

Johnny Depp – The Lone Ranger

Johnny Depp was almost trampled to death by a horse during the filming of The Lone Ranger. Depp fell off his saddle and was left trying to cling to the horse. He was dragged for about 25 yards. He finally gave in and was trampled. He suffered minor injuries. Production went straight back to work after the scary event.
